Lorazepam is a medication of the benzodiazepine class that produces anxiolytic, sedative, and anticonvulsant effects. Lorazepam may be used as either an anxiolytic or antipanic agent for the treatment of anxiety disorders, as well as for relief from acute alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
