Nitric oxide is a chemical in the body that causes blood vessels to relax. By blocking this enzyme, Revatio reduces pulmonary hypertension and improves your ability to exercise. Revatio is taken by mouth orally (by mouth, not in the nose) once a day, with or without food. It is important to take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but not more than 24 hours before your next scheduled dose. Taking too much of this medication can cause serious, life-threatening side effects.
