Hi, I’m Katie, a food writer and registered dietitian with a master’s degree in clinical nutrition. When my kids came along, they didn’t care a whit about those credentials, only that their noses got wiped and their bananas mashed just right. I put my work life on hold for a fair stretch, worrying all the while that I’d lose touch with my craft. Turns out the opposite happened. Being a mom fueled a passion for helping families raise healthy kids through sound feeding habits, delicious recipes, and lots of patience.Still, right now, I’m probably doing what you’re probably doing: trying to figure out what to fix for dinner, or pack in a lunch box, or put in my shopping cart. In addition to my work on Mom’s Kitchen Handbook, I develop recipes, teach cooking and nutrition classes, consult, and write for magazines and newspapers. I’ve published three cookbooks: PREP: The Essential College Cookbook (Roost Books, 2019), Rise and Shine: Better Breakfasts for Busy Mornings (Roost Books, 2016) and Best Lunch Box Ever (Chronicle Books), which was an IACP awards finalist.
