Business Description
The son of an antique rug dealer, Ahmad Shabahang (pictured lower right-hand corner) followed in his father's footsteps. Adding on to his father's work, Ahmad decided to sell new rugs in their store at the Grand Bazaar of Esfahan as well. Having a grander vision then his father's, Ahmad went on to sell rugs internationally, mostly to Europe. Using his connections with Tehran merchants, he became the go-to person for International clients looking for Esfahan Rugs, which are known for using high quality silk and detailed patterns. As his sons also showed interest in the rug business, he sent his sons to Belgium and France to sell directly there. In 1970 he sent his son Manouchehr to America to pursue education. Followed by his other brothers, and finally Ahmad himself, they realized the potential of the American market was unrivaled. Opening a store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1972 the Shabahang family made America their home and have opened several stores across the nation. Manouchehr helped open the Milwaukee, Dallas, and Chicago store, but he fell in love with the city of Chicago and made that location his home since 1988. Curating unique and high quality pieces, he has helped clients furnish their homes and his passion has never waned. This passion for the art is what drew his son Afshin into the business at a young age. Afshin now runs the operation at the showroom in Winnetka, with the help of Amir Roozitalab and Nushin Shabahang.Business Hours
