Business Description
Founded over a century ago, the Vesper Club has been a staple in the Philadelphia social scene.
In 1941, the Vesper Club moved to an intimate two-story Sydenham Street hideaway serving as a private dining club for politicians, mobsters, and business professionals.
The Vesper Club was frequented by Mayor Frank Rizzo, mob boss Angelo Bruno, GOP boss Billy Meehan, former Eagles owner Leonard Tose and DJ Jerry Blavat. The Vesper Club was a social club for the rich and famous of Philadelphia. More business deals were closed in Vesper than anywhere else in the state.
Over the past few decades, a number of old-line private clubs have closed down; notably the Downtown Club, the Alpha Club, the Locust Club, the Engineers Club, and the Commerce Club.
In 2012, the Vesper Club moved across Sydenham Street to what is now the Racquet Club. The building
was in dire disrepair and the old Vesper Club was fully modernized while maintaining its old world charm.
In 2017, the new owners set out to realize a new vision for the Vesper Club reincarnating it as Vesper Sporting Club. The first of its kind in Philadelphia, Vesper Sporting Club features 4k mega screens throughout the dining room showcasing sports like never before.
Experience the rich history of Vesper Sporting Club, where the party is as exciting as the game.
