Wells Fargo Arena opened in 2005 in downtown Des Moines and is the home to large concerts and family events as well as the Iowa Energy of the NBA D-League and the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League.The 16,980-seat Wells Fargo Arena first opened its doors on July 12, 2005, replacing the declining Veterans Memorial Auditorium as Des Moines’s premier venue for sporting events and concerts.
